Stephen Henderson raised £7,500 for Ward 32 at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. This ward specialises in oncology (tumour treatment) and is a very worthy cause. The punishment carried out to raise this money was the “Applecross Challenge”.
This involved Stephen doing a solo cycle for 6 miles up the steepest hill ascent in the UK climbing 2000 ft in the process. Cycling from Loch Carron at sea level up the “pass of the cattle” also known as Ballach na ba (in Gaelic) this journey is so steep it enjoys gradients of 40% in places and is only advised with caution.The goal was 60”, actual time taken was 59’2”.
